Golden Chopsticks

Golden Chopsticks, located at 225 Cypress Edge Dr. in Palm Coast, FL, opened in August 2024 in the former Golden Corral building, which had closed a few years earlier. It is a typical Chinese buffet offering a wide variety of buffet-style dishes. Lunch is $13.99, or $18.99 all day on holidays, and dinner is $18.99 on both weekdays and weekends. Since it opened, we have visited several times. On most days, it is average for a buffet. However, the restaurant was closed for two days by the health department in May 2025 due to rodents and flies. It has also received several serious food preparation violations, including using an unapproved food supplier that had not been inspected or approved by the FDA or USDA. Earlier this year, we decided to give the restaurant another chance. That visit was our last, and we will likely never return. Much of the food was at room temperature and seemed unsafe. After leaving, we contacted the health department to report what we found. An inspector returne...

Panda Express

We decided to give the Panda Express at 5234 FL-100 #110 in Palm Coast, FL, another try for the first time since our visit more than four or five years ago. Back then, we were unimpressed because the food was served at room temperature and the meat was dry. This time, the food had improved, but the service was still subpar. To start, Panda Express offers a variety of Asian-inspired dishes in three meal options: a bowl with one side and one entrée, a plate with one side and two entrées, or a larger plate, priced at $8.50, $10.50, and $12.50, respectively. SERVICE : The service was just okay. My order was incorrect: I asked for green bean and chicken but received only string beans. They had also run out of green bean and chicken and broccoli and beef, so I had to wait about eight minutes. I would rate the service 5 out of 10. FOOD : The food was okay—moister than during our previous visit and somewhat better overall, though still a bit bland. The fried rice was above average. I wou...

Longhorn Steak House Palm Coast FL

Longhorn Steak House is a subsidiary of the Darden Restaurant Group which includes Olive Garden, Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Cheddars, The Capital Grill, and more. Recently Darden opened a Longhorn Steak House at 5877 FL-100, Palm Coast, FL 32164. It is the first and only steak house located on the south side of town, so we were eager to try it out. First, be forewarned – Longhorn Steak House does NOT service Prime Rib. Apparently, the restaurant decided to discontinue serving prime rib due to the high cost to the customer. Honestly, that is the main reason why we stopped going there. Otherwise, service was slightly above average, even though is was their opening week and the staff was getting used to the operation. In time, it will presumedly improve. Food-wise, outside of no prime rib, they had a reasonable selection of steaks and cuts. I ended up ordering the sirloin and came out warm and tender, so have to give them an above average rating for the food itself.

Sammy J’s

Sammy J’ is located at 2513 Moody Blvd, Flagler Beach and it says it all in its name. We have been going there over the past couple years – usually about once a week – but because of increased costs of eating out, that has been stretched to maybe once every other week. Nevertheless, the food is great. Their home fries are just right and optionally can include peppers and onions. Service is fantastic! The waitress staff is quick, know their menu, and professional. Food always comes out hot and they are jolly on the spot with coffee refills. It is truly a down-home restaurant. We give it 5 out 5!

Texas Roadhouse - Palm Coast

Ok...so we have been going to Texas Roadhouse in Port Orange for the past couple of years because Outback no longer has good steaks. What we found was that Texas Roadhouse does NOT freeze their steaks and they are always tender, done correctly, and flavorful. When we heard that Texas Roadhouse was opening up in Palm Coast we were ecstatic! It was worth the wait!! The steaks are GREAT!! hands down. Tender, flavorful and done just right. The service is great - even on their opening day. It definitely beats Outback hands down. NOTE to Outback: Don't freeze your steaks and get better cuts so that they are tender. And work on your service. NOTE to everyone else: Go to Texas Roadhouse, you won't be sorry!!

Popeyes - Palm Coast

So, we tried the new Popeyes on SR 100 east of I-95 a couple of weeks ago to check out the chicken sandwich that they offer that is suppose to be fantastic... short answer...there is NOTHING spectacular about it. Seriously, it is no better or no worse then Chic-Fil, McDonalds, or Wendy's chicken sandwich. BTW, we waited in the drive up line for about 20 minutes. And today, we decided we'd try Popeyes again. This time we ordered in and sat down. We got two meals: 3 chicken tenders with one side and a drink, and a 2 piece with one side and a drink. Total -- just under $20.00. Problem # 1: Compared to KFC, the chicken tenders and the pieces of chicken were small; Problem # 2: The only sides they had were Red Beans and Rice, and Green beans. No mashed potatoes, no fries, no coleslaw; Problem # 3: The biscuit was about the size of a silver dollar (for those that remember what a silver dollar looked like) Problem # 4: The chicken was over cooked and not tender; Problem # 5: T...

Dog's Choice

We are not having the best of luck with dog groomers. This is located at 1844B South Ocean Shore Blvd, Flagler Beach, FL. We had an appointment for 10 am and dropped them off about 10 minutes after 10. When we made the appointment we were told it shouldn't take more than an hour and they should be done by noon. When we dropped them off, she told us it could take any where from 2 - 5 hours depending on how difficult the dog was and it would cost $30 per hour. We did warn her that the young male was just 2 years old and it very curious and may be difficult to handle. Not difficult to handle because he was mean, but difficult to handle because he moves about so much trying to see, smell and hear everything going on. Oh, and she said not to call her, she would call us when they were ready. We finally got a call five hours later - around 3 pm - and picked them up. They looked horrible!!! The trim was uneven around the neck and ears. The shirt was cut short. And the male had a cut over...
