Texas Roadhouse - Palm Coast

Ok...so we have been going to Texas Roadhouse in Port Orange for the past couple of years because Outback no longer has good steaks. What we found was that Texas Roadhouse does NOT freeze their steaks and they are always tender, done correctly, and flavorful. When we heard that Texas Roadhouse was opening up in Palm Coast we were ecstatic!

It was worth the wait!! The steaks are GREAT!! hands down. Tender, flavorful and done just right. The service is great - even on their opening day. It definitely beats Outback hands down.

NOTE to Outback: Don't freeze your steaks and get better cuts so that they are tender. And work on your service.

NOTE to everyone else: Go to Texas Roadhouse, you won't be sorry!!

Popeyes - Palm Coast

So, we tried the new Popeyes on SR 100 east of I-95 a couple of weeks ago to check out the chicken sandwich that they offer that is suppose to be fantastic... short answer...there is NOTHING spectacular about it. Seriously, it is no better or no worse then Chic-Fil, McDonalds, or Wendy's chicken sandwich. BTW, we waited in the drive up line for about 20 minutes.

And today, we decided we'd try Popeyes again. This time we ordered in and sat down. We got two meals: 3 chicken tenders with one side and a drink, and a 2 piece with one side and a drink. Total -- just under $20.00.

Problem # 1: Compared to KFC, the chicken tenders and the pieces of chicken were small;
Problem # 2: The only sides they had were Red Beans and Rice, and Green beans. No mashed potatoes, no fries, no coleslaw;
Problem # 3: The biscuit was about the size of a silver dollar (for those that remember what a silver dollar looked like)
Problem # 4: The chicken was over cooked and not tender;
Problem # 5: The size of the sides were reduced by half. Maybe because they are low on food supplies

In general, this will NOT be a place that we will be returning to. It is over priced, the food is not that good, and the service is less than satisfactory. You would be better off spending your money else rather than at Popeyes in Palm Coast.

Dog's Choice

We are not having the best of luck with dog groomers. This is located at 1844B South Ocean Shore Blvd, Flagler Beach, FL. We had an appointment for 10 am and dropped them off about 10 minutes after 10. When we made the appointment we were told it shouldn't take more than an hour and they should be done by noon. When we dropped them off, she told us it could take any where from 2 - 5 hours depending on how difficult the dog was and it would cost $30 per hour. We did warn her that the young male was just 2 years old and it very curious and may be difficult to handle. Not difficult to handle because he was mean, but difficult to handle because he moves about so much trying to see, smell and hear everything going on. Oh, and she said not to call her, she would call us when they were ready.

We finally got a call five hours later - around 3 pm - and picked them up. They looked horrible!!! The trim was uneven around the neck and ears. The shirt was cut short. And the male had a cut over his right eye. She did not mention the cut at the time of pickup and it wasn't observed before we left.

OH...AND THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH OR CHECK. No credit or debt cards.

We do NOT recommend this groomer under any circumstances!!!!

Best Buy and Samsung

Well...after all these years of buying stuff from Best Buy, Best Buy has now earned a big fat GOOSE EGG for service. What surprises me is that over the years Best Buy has been riddled with online reviews for their horrible customer service and the way they treat their customers. But remember what they say, one bad apple will spoil the barrel.

It appears that Samsung is in the same bed as Best Buy with their lousy customer service. We are now in our 3rd week trying to get a replacement TV covered under Samsung's warranty and we keep getting a run around. We have resorted to contacting the North American CEO Tim Baxter at tim.baxterCEO@sea.samsung.com in an attempt to get this resolved.

Disney

Okay -- so big Disney fan here BUT recently had a terrible experience that has since been reported to Disney and ignored.

Arrived in the afternoon at Hollywood studios and the disabled parking lot is reportedly full so ended up parking on row 44. Row 44 is not serviced by tram so had to walk about 3/4 of mile to the entrance pass the "Preferred Parking" - which had plenty of parking but cost an additional $35.00. As we approached the disabled parking we noticed that there were like a dozen open parking spaces.

We went back got the car and after some disagreeable words with a cast member, proceeded to the disabled parking with the intention of actually leaving the park.

Nevertheless, reported it to Mr. Iger, the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, who sent it to his dominions in Orlando. A Shawn responded and asked me to call. I called twice and left messages and never got a call back. So, people, understand this. You are NOT a GUEST at Disney. You are  $$$$ to them and they do not give a crap about you - even if you are an Annual Passholder like we are and have been now for going on three (3) years.

Disney is NOT like it was under Ol' Man Walt and probably never will be - and that is a shame.

McDonalds - 5190 East Moody Blvd

This has got to be the worst McDonalds in terms of service. They are slow and make a lot of mistakes. Wonder if their min wage went up to $15 per hour would the quality of their work get better? Could I DEMAND a higher quality of Customer Service and GET IT!?

Doubt it

Beaver Toyota - St Augustine

What can I say? Be very very cautious with these people. Recently went to them to purchase a pickup truck. Found one that was in good shape and used. Signed an credit application with the understanding that Beaver Toyota would pull a credit report and only one credit inquiry would show up on my credit report. Surprise, surprise!! There were over 8 hard credit inquires made on my credit report without my authorization resulting in my credit score tanking.

Furthermore, they let me take the vehicle home and a couple of days later I returned the vehicle when I was advised that they had been unable to secure credit on the used vehicle. Two days later they showed up on my door step insisting I had purchased the vehicle and that I had to accept it. I told them to get off my property or I would contact the sheriff’s office. During this time frame, NO paper work – other than a temporary tag – was provided to me. No copies of contracts, mileage certification – nothing – as required by Florida Law.

Later I filed a complaint with the State of Florida concerning their sales tactics and the manager responded with outright lies. He reported that they had advised me that they needed copies of my paychecks when I told them from the beginning that I was a 1099 employee. The manager also advised that I was told that a 1099 was not sufficient and as a result the credit application was turned down. His response made it sound like I was complaining about the credit being extended to me for the purchase of the vehicle. That was the furthest from the truth.

In closing – be very, very careful when dealing with Beaver Toyota – St Augustine. They are pushy, overbearing, lying sales people and managers.
